After a record-breaking attendance, Saturday’s evening saw the Ted Hendricks Stadium on their best clothes.
Saturday presented the hardest test for Miami United FC when the 5-time Copa Libertadores Champions went and visited town for a pre-season friendly. Presenting a hybrid team from all-Uruguayan players Peñarol finished the first half dominating with a 2-0 score, both goals from Piñeiro (4′ & 36′).
Miami’s Peterson, Pierre and Perea all saved what could have been goals which would have extended the lead for the aurinegros. After a few substitutions from the home team the score finished with a leveled 2-2 after Fuenmayor (76′) & Nurse (78′)’s headers gave Miami the fair boost.
Both fan groups enjoyed the big party after many flew and even drove distances as far as Canada to Miami to simply witness this event. The manyas and locals all enjoyed some family-friendly fun.
